Chairman Edmund Lang signals a clean start to the fourth and decisive race of the 1930 America’s Cup between the green-hulled J-Boat SHAMROCK V and the defender ENTERPRISE. The NYYC has chartered the tug SUSAN A MORAN for the summer trials and AC finals. Committee members Philip Mallory (at desk) and Colgate Hoyt watch closely as the red cylinder start signal is hoisted and the ship’s whistle call the start.
